At the 2009 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Vripack introduced their brand new innovative Smart KitTM construction method to the yachting industry. Now their first unprecedented challenge is underway: building a complete steel 20m motor yacht in a mind boggling 7,5 months. This brand new vessel is designed for the Gamma Yachts. 
The project to build the Ron Holland designed 45m Motoryacht at RMK Marine is well underway with the main metal structures now complete the yacht has been moved into position in its fit-out workshop. The crew accommodation joinery work is almost complete on the mock-up and the spaces look wonderfully comfortable. 
Imtech Marine Group has been commissioned to supply the entire ‘green’ technical infrastructure on board Greenpeace’s new flagship Rainbow Warrior III. This is not an isolated project. Together with a large number of other initiatives, it serves as proof of the present development in ‘green’ ships. 
Rondal has signed the contract to design and construct the spars and rigging for the Spirit of Tradition Ketch, currently under construction at Royal Huisman. This 55 metre classically lined yacht is designed for high performance global cruising, while at the same time being capable of competing in the top regattas and sail races. 
International spar and rigging consultants Marine Results has opened a base at La Ciotat to meet the demand of superyachts and grand prix racing yachts for a full-service and specialist rigging service in the region. The location at La Ciotat boasts a comprehensive facility for superyachts, including a 2000 tonne Yacht Lift, a 300 tonne Travel Lift. 
Norco GRP took a brief from an owner recently to provide a bespoke console system for his 75’ cruising yacht to incorporate vital navigational and engineering systems’ displays for his upcoming round the world trip. The designs were partly for clarity and ease of operation, yet also had a more fundamental area in safety. 
When a new yacht is to be designed and built, most eyes focus directly on the exterior design and less on the throbbing heart inside the yacht: the engine room, with its systems, machinery and piping. But by using a state of the art 3D environment, Vripack creates a much more realistic process and gives those involved a clear insight of the yacht’s pearl. 
The next Hydro Tec-designed yacht to be launched is Aifos, a 50-metre boat made entirely out of aluminium and currently under construction in the CBI Navi shipyard. It is expected to have an excellent performance even if it is not the most powerful of boats. Aifos is a semi-displacement, three-deck 49.78m yacht. 
Paul Manting, Sales & Marketing Director, reports that this month Icon Yachts was inspected by an Auditor from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance who spent a complete day touring the yard and was extremely impressed with what he saw (“as all of our guests have been!”) and the levels of organization, summed up in his conclusion. 
Sea trials are about to begin for Candyscape II, the brand new 62m vessel from Italian yard Viareggio SuperYachts (VSY). The superyacht has been designed to have the highest standards of environmental performance and energy efficiency, and to meet the exacting standards of the RINA Green Star class notation. 
Recently a special event took place at the Amels shipyard in Vlissingen. The first cables were pulled on board of an Amels new building yacht, construction no. 6501. This vessel is one of the new Limited Editions Amels 212 series: a yacht measuring more than 65 meters, with seven state-rooms, five decks, and innumerable rooms. 
Lionheart has become the latest yacht to balance greenhouse gas emissions through Yacht Carbon Offset’s specialist service. Yacht Carbon Offset has certified that emissions arising from Lionheart’s forthcoming cruising programme will be balanced by compensating emissions savings elsewhere – through green energy projects, for example. 
On 20th August, Lürssen delivered the 110 metre project Opal, now christened Dilbar, six weeks ahead of schedule. Dilbar is the first yacht in the world with particle filters on the main engine exhausts. She has a combined diesel mechanic and diesel electric propulsion system with exhaust gas particle filters. 
Telemar Yachting is supplying a complete suite of electronic navigation systems onboard the new 43-meter (142-foot) yacht at the Baglietto Shipyard in La Spezia Italy. The yacht will be equipped with a state-of-the-art integrated bridge system (IBS) based on Sperry Marine’s new-generation VisionMaster FT™ technology including X- and S-band radars. 
A simple idea can develop into a fruitful cooperation between two companies with a passion for detail. This happened when Voith Turbo Marine, well known supplier of the Voith Schneider Propellors, approached Heesen Yachts with a new development of theirs, the Voith Cycloidal rudder (VCR).

Lift Emotion BV is proud to announce that they received the order for the delivery of a special half round marine elevator for the project New Horizon by Trinity. The New Horizon is designed by Evan K Marshall, his request for a special glass elevator led to Lift Emotion BV. During the close negotiations between the Yard and the Designer Lift Emotion BV came with a special marine elevator that fulfilled the demands for both parties. 
When the 38m dayboat was tank tested by the SSPA in Gothenburg, the report found the hull to be very stable at speed on resistance tests, taking into account dynamic wetted length and wetted area. Wind resistance was also included in the evaluation. In addition there were no signs of dynamic instability and it was noted that there was very little change to running trim across the whole speed range from 0-65 knots.
