The J Class Association has announced outline plans for a series of spectacular regattas in England during 2012 - the Olympic Year. This will be the first time in history that more than four of these imposing yachts will race together in a fleet. Another gorgeous day for participants as racing continues for the 2009 edition of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. With 296 entries in this unique, annual rendez-vous of both classic and modern boats, today the waters off Saint-Tropez were filled with yachts of all shapes and sizes. Racing for the Traditional classes officially began today at the 2009 edition of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. The wind has been gentle thus far, but a thermal breeze picked up around noon allowing for a race start in the bay of Saint-Tropez. Upwards of 35 knots were recorded off Porto Cervo, causing the YCCS race committee to announce a postponement for the start of today's racing in the Perini Navi Cup. Following her positive debut at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta, P2 achieved 1st place among some of the most prestigious and hi-performing yachts in the world. Bringing together 19 boats over 70-feet, the Newport Bucket Regatta was held Saturday and Sunday, July 18th and 19th. After two days of racing, P2 finished first in Class and Overall in the Fleet. The New Zealand-built sailing yacht Silvertip has won the Millennium Cup Pacific Series superyacht regatta. A small, but spirited fleet sailed four races in three days on three very different courses in Auckland Harbour. After a very close day of racing in what had to be one of the most nail biting finishes to The Superyacht Cup Antigua ever, Timoneer claimed a worthy victory. With winds ranging from 14 to 27 knots on the Abu Dhabi race, all of the boats left the dock with everything to sail for. The competition for first place overall was between the Timoneer and Signe. Blue skies, black clouds, sunshine and rain all in one afternoon for the first day of racing at The Superyacht Cup Antigua. The forecast turned out to be pretty acurate, predicting 17 – 20 knots with occasional squalls, but no one really expected squalls on every leg, and winds to reach over 35 knots on several occasions during the two and a half hour race.
