One of our readers has send us this image of Le Grand Blue, taken in North East Germany. Although not confirmed yet, we believe the 112 metre superyacht might be underway to the Tamsen yard, for a refit. Businessman Heiner Tamsen took over the SMG Werft earlier this year, and has lead the shipyard into a new era for shipbuilding.

After three and a half years of extensive reconstruction to new condition, Attessa IV will be unveiled October 1, 2010 in Vancouver BC, Canada. The work has been carried out by Washington Yachting Group (WYG) and Glade Johnson is responsible for the new interior and exterior styling. Attessa IV has been brought to Lloyds and MCA Class. 
In March 2010 the 59 metre superyacht Capri arrived at Dunya Yachts, as her new owners had selected the Turkish shipyard for a range of works, including a full repaint of the hull and superstructure. The refit team of Dunya Yachts has just informed SuperYachtTimes.com that they have successfully completed the refit. 
In addition to the design and construction of new yachts, Van Dam Nordia also carries out extensive refits. This month the yard welcomed Sirene to the yard, built by Feadship in 1962. This lovely yacht has already had many modifications over the decades, and the current owner is aiming to bring her back to original state. 
The 12 metre Yacht Development Foundation was established in 2006 in Greenwich, CT for the acquisition, restoration, and preservation of historic America's Cup 12 metre yachts. They have turned to Derecktor to make sure the job is done right, beginning with the refit of Lionheart. These boats have been called "the thoroughbreds of the sea," 
Mariette is one of the largest competitors taking part in the Pendennis Cup with a length overall of 42.05m. Built in the USA in 1915, she is a stunning Herreshoff designed classic schooner. Mariette’s refit began in February and has been completed with the reinstatement of her huge sailing rig, with the mast alone measuring over 36m. 
Feadship Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum currently has two major refit projects well under way. After the extensive and award winning refit of motor yacht Pegasus (White Rabbit – 1995), the refit of another White Rabbit (1989) is in progress at the yard. The 38.10m yacht, now called Odyssey, will also undergo a large-scale refit. 
A Southampton-based ship repairer has successfully completed the refit of superyacht Senses. Testbank Ship Repair spent three months renewing the 194 ft German built luxury superyacht. The bulk of the refit was done at Testbank’s ship repair facility in Portsmouth’s historic harbour using the company’s 1,000 tonne Rolls Royce syncrolift. 
Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands has completed the radical refit of the 70-metre research vessel Golden Lion into a superlative three-masted topsail schooner. The work was carried out to EU Directive 98/18 on safety rules and standards for passenger ships. The better-than-new vessel was launched by the yard on the ‘Day of Urk’. 
As one of the most modern shipyards in northern Europe, Tamsen Maritim was selected by the owner of a 30m classic sailing yacht for a two step refit. Due to their location in Germany on the Baltic Sea, and with their experience of building large yachts within a highly skilled team, it was seen as the ideal stop over for an in time and on budget refit. 
Mari-Cha III, the 147ft Sensation Yachts Super Maxi sailing yacht, has left the Derecktor Connecticut facility after a five-month makeover. She arrived on somewhat short notice, according to Paul Derecktor, the company’s CEO. “The Mari-Cha people wanted to take advantage of the current favorable exchange rate in the United States.” 
The inaugural Moonen Refits Lunch at the recent Antibes boat show attracted an impressive number of yachting influentials. Well over thirty captains, brokers, superintendents, yacht managers, owner’s reps and senior members of the press enjoyed a tasty selection of food and drinks as Moonen provided an overview of its refit ambitions.

Luca Dini has released more information to SuperYachtTimes.com about a highly impressive 71m rebuilt project, taking place in Italy. Originally built 1931 by Krupp shipyard in Germany as Argosy, she was sold in 1934 to Sir Thomas Sopwith, to be used as an escort ship to Endeavour, under her new name Vita. 
It was a beautiful summer’s day on 15 July 1964 when hull 583, one of the legendary Caravelle series, was christened Serena at the De Vries yard in Aalsmeer. When this 22.50m yacht will be relaunched in 2010 after an extensive refit, she will be better than new, benefiting from the experience accrued by De Vries and Feadship over the past 45 years. 
In addition to the design and construction of new yachts, Van Dam Nordia also carries out extensive refits. With a slipway of 150 tons the shipyard can accommodate yachts up to 36 metres. So far in 2009 Van Dam Nordia has welcomed a number of refit clients looking to access the yard’s renowned craftsmanship, professionalism and cost efficiencies. 
Marine Group Boat Works is currently servicing three Perini Navi sailing yachts: 183-foot S/Y Rosehearty, 173-foot S/Y Tamsen and 158-foot S/Y Morning Glory. One of the few white Perini Navis in the world, S /Y Rosehearty at 183 feet, is getting some paint touch ups, structural work, underwater hull paint and other minor repairs. 
Lady Thuraya, ex Borkum Riff 2, has just completed her major refit by Verkerk Yachting Projects, that took 18 months to complete. During the refit every onboard system was replaced or renewed. Her current owner, who also owns superyacht Sherakhan, has made Lady Thuraya available for charter through her central agent Camper & Nicholsons. 
The 44m water-jet motor yacht launched in 1990 by Dutch builder Heesen Yachts as L’Aquasition has enjoyed a high-profile career; subsequent incarnations included the popular charter yacht Artful Dodger and Lady Joy. Today, an extensive refit at Derecktor Florida has transformed the yacht – re-christened At Last – into a virtually new custom project. 
Holland Jachtbouw has announced the opening of the HJB Refit Centre. This separate division will take a distinctive approach to major rebuilds that meets the unique requirements of this specialised work. And the needs of captains and crew residing in Holland during the project will be comprehensively met by HJB’s Crew Assist programme. 
Matt Albert of YPI Brokerage announces the completion of the final refit stage on M/Y Leonora. Built in 1991 by one of the world’s leading superyacht builders, Lürssen, and winner of no less than two major superyacht industry awards, the 40-metre displacement yacht Leonora has now finished her final period of refit. 
The 77.40 metre Khozam was built as a tug in Germany by Schichau-Unterwesser in a series of several vessels, including the luxury yacht Lone Ranger. For many years Khozam served as the support vessel to a Middle Eastern owned luxury yacht, but now she is listed for sale the Italian design firm Pastrovich Design has created a concept design. 
Today, after a period of about nine and half months, Feadship - De Vries Makkum launched the refitted Pegasus. Built in 1995 by Feadship De Vries in Aalsmeer as White Rabbit, the new Owner brought her back to the De Vries yard for a serious refit. The owner acquired the vessel early 2008 with help of the technical expertise of the Feadship Refit Team. 
On Saturday the 6th of June 2009, at the presence of local Authorities and illustrious guests, a cocktail took place on the superyacht Anedigmi. The event has been organized for different purposes, the delivery of mega-yacht Anedigmi after a complete refit which lasted over 7 months and the official opening of the New Quaiat Yard. 
The 40m Dubois sloop Tenaz recently left Pendennis following a 6 month successful refit. The yacht was originally launched by Pendennis back in 1996 and has remained one of the yard’s best loved projects. Following an extensive world cruise with her new owner and his family, it was decided to bring the yacht back to Pendennis 
S/Y Adix was recently launched back into the water following a successful seven month refit at Pendennis’ yard in Falmouth. The 370 tonne three masted schooner is the largest yacht to date to be lifted out by the company’s 400 tonne travel hoist. Pendennis’ travel hoist is the largest leisure yacht hoist in the UK. 
The Atlantic Refit Center on the French Atlantic coast in La Rochelle managed the complete refit of the 32m motor yacht Wisting. The complete repaint of the topsides has been performed, together with important modifications of the two anchor pockets and anchor hull protection bars welded on the hull, by Lecamus. 
The depreciation of the Australian dollar and tighter economic climate have sparked an increase in superyacht refit and repair enquiries in Australia. “Owners are now choosing to smarten up their existing vessels ahead of embarking on new ventures. Others are snapping up pre-owned bargains and then modifying according to personal preference,” 
GMT Composites, has recently supplied carbon fiber pocket booms for the total refit of SummerWind, a John G. Alden-designed schooner built in 1929. The culmination of a 2-year total restoration spearheaded by Karl Joyner, the yacht’s highly experienced captain, was the stepping of her wood masts and her new state-of-the-art booms. 
The Atlantic Refit Center (ARC) is a new facility for superyacht refits up to 150m in length. Based on the French Atlantic coast in La Rochelle, the Atlantic Refit Center is the perfect shipyard that offers all types of services for superyachts. Situated in a secured zone, it occupies the only deep sea port on the French Atlantic coast accessible 24/7 (14 m draft). 
Moonen Shipyards, has announced that one of its “pocket-size superyachts” has come home for a truly extraordinary refit, well beyond the usual “tuning up.” Launched in 2003, the Moonen 84 Moon River (ex-Moon Bels) has a new owner who, following two season’s experience, asked us to remodel her to his very detailed desires and specifications. 
Thanks in part to the success of its flagship site at La Ciotat, (more than 100 yachts of over 40m serviced between May 2007 and January 2009), Monaco Marine continues to go from strength to strength. With a view to further expansion, Monaco Marine has been granted access, by Semidep, to a new area of 25 000 sq m located in the public zone. 
Amels recently completed the re-building of a classic 68.5m superyacht launched in Italy in 1991. The initial assignment for Amels Refit Department was to make some interior changes, significantly alter the exterior, and refurbish machinery and systems. Midway through the refit, the owners, requested more work. 
Joseph Artese Design has designed the new interior for the re-building of the 185’ M/V Alucia, the French built research vessel (formally R/V Nadir) which came fitted out with an A-Frame for launching and retrieving the three two-man submersibles. The rebuild is fully underway in Seattle and is expected to be fully operational and ready by February 2009. 
The Netherlands are well known for building high quality superyachts, but since last year we also have a specialized superyacht refit shipyard, Balk Shipyard in Urk. Although already established back in 1786 (!), it wasn’t until they moved from Elburg to Urk before they were noticed within the superyacht industry. 
Azzura Marine is fast establishing a solid reputation as the premier superyacht facility in the South Pacific region. Azzura Marine Newcastle is the group's fourth and most recent addition to its growing shipyard portfolio. Capable of building custom yachts up to 74m, the new facility also provides a complete refit and repair centre. 
In early September S.Y Adix returned to Pendennis for her 3rd major refit, the largest vessel to date at 64m to be lifted out using the 400 tonne travel hoist. On this occasion the yacht and her crew are undertaking a 6 month refit programme with Pendennis. Major work items include the repainting of her topsides and inner bullwarks.
